About us and how we operate

We understand that as athlete agents and family advisors we are entrusted with sensitive information which is provided in many cases with utmost confidence. We appreciate that we owe duties of utmost confidence to our clients, and we take those duties seriously. In this policy, we set out what information we collect, how we use it, where we will seek additional consent for disclosure, as well as how you can access your information.

Link Management International operates primarily throughout North America as a proudly Canadian company. Being a Canadian company which operates across multiple provinces, Link Management acts in accordance with the obligations imposed by the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act, SC 2000 c 5. More than mere compliance with our statutory obligations however, we have crafted this policy, and therefore our practices, with consultation of the Canadian Standards Association Model Code for the Protection of Personal information (the “Model Code”).

What personal information are we talking about?

Personal information broadly speaking refers to any information about an identifiable individual which may identify that individual or by which a client’s identity could be deduced. In accordance with the Model Code, we seek to limit the personal information we collect to that which is strictly necessary to ensure we are able to adequately reach and serve our clients. As an athlete agency and family advisory firm, the information we require includes an individuals’ name, address, contact numbers, age, sex, marital or family status, as well as limited amounts of medical information (such as injury reports and diagnoses) and physical measurements such as height, weight, body composition and physical performance measurements.

In most instances, Link Management will collect a client’s personal information directly from the client, but sometimes such information will be obtained from third parties. In most cases, where information is sought directly from a third party, the client’s consent will be obtained in advance of such collection.

How we use your information

Personal information will be used only in association with the provision of our services to a client, and to do direct marketing. There are certain services provided to our clients which we will engage third parties to perform. Where third party services are sought or encouraged, the client’s consent will be obtained prior to providing any information to that third party. Link Management International will not disclose a client’s personal information to a third party simply to enable that party to market their products or services.

Being athlete agents and family advisors, part of our job is to promote the successes of our clients. For that reason, we do actively promote our athlete clients’ successes through various outlets. When doing so, we are sensitive to ensure that we promote these successes without disclosing any private information.

How we protect your personal information

We use all appropriate precautions to ensure that our clients’ personal information is kept safe from loss, unauthorized access or disclosure. For instance, client information is stored in secure locations, where only authorized Link Management International personnel or their agents may access it.

We do note however, that while we take all precautions to ensure that our emails are kept secure, email is not a totally secure medium. You are cautioned about this when using email to transmit personal or confidential information.

Consent to use of personal information

Consent to the use of personal information for a particular purpose is assumed in cases where the client is providing information for an obvious purpose. Client consent will be specifically sought where the client’s information is proposed to be used or disclosed for a purpose not obviously connected with the purpose the information was collected for. A client may withdraw consent to the use and disclosure of Personal Information at any time, unless the

Personal Information is necessary for Link Management International to fulfill its legal obligations. Link Management International will respect the client's decision, but may not be able to provide the client with certain products and services without the necessary Personal Information or permission. It will be understood that Link Management International may in certain circumstances collect, use or disclose

Personal Information as authorized by law without an individual’s consent, for example, where to do so is reasonable for an investigational legal proceeding, to collect a debt owed to Link Management International, or in a life threatening emergency.

How to access your personal information

Clients may contact Link Management International to ask for access to any personal information Link Management holds about them. We will use best efforts to ensure that the personal information we have regarding our clients is correct, and to correct any errors in the personal information we are in possession of.
